Democratic megadonor Alex Soros quickly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris after Joe Biden announced he was dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.
Soros, the Hungarian billionaire activist who took over the helm of the Open Society Foundations last year from his 93-year-old father, George Soros, was quick to signal on Sunday that he would fully back his family’s vast fortune to support Kamala Harris, the likely Democratic nominee to challenge former President Donald Trump in November.

The big donor’s endorsement comes after President Joe Biden announced he was dropping out of the 2024 presidential race, facing pressure from within the Democratic Party, the grassroots and his donor base to step aside as his approval ratings continue to slide following his disastrous performance in last month’s debate with President Trump.
The Soros scion recently announced his engagement to Huma Abedin, a former aide to Hillary Clinton, cementing his ties to leading Democrats but is a long-time supporter of the Biden administration.
Breitbart News previously reported that as of July of last year, Alex Soros had visited President Biden’s White House 15 times and met with administration officials 20 times.
Soros also received an invitation from the White House to a state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Last September, the 38-year-old, who serves as chairman of the board of the Open Society Foundations, said one of his main goals was to stop former President Donald Trump and other “MAGA-style” Republicans from gaining power in 2024.
“Such an outcome would jeopardize European unity and undermine the progress achieved on many fronts in response to the war in Ukraine,” he said.
In addition to supporting Democratic candidates, Soros and his Hungarian father have long been active in promoting left-wing causes in the US, including abortion, amnesty for illegal immigrants, mass immigration, legalizing prostitution and climate change activism.
George Soros has been active in local district attorney elections for many years, supporting candidates who support “criminal justice reform,” or keeping criminals out of prison. After taking over the reins at OSF, Alex Soros said he was more “political” than his father.
According to CNBC, the activist family has poured an estimated $500 million into left-wing causes, thanks to funding from the Open Society Foundations and private donations from George Soros, the outlet reported. Said Most were “operated through dark money nonprofits and directed toward political purposes, primarily aligned with the Democratic Party.”
