An armed intruder broke into a Kentucky home just after midnight Saturday, police said, but the homeowner, who was also armed, shot and killed the suspect, police added.
Kentucky State Police He told WDKY-TV The National Guard responded to a report of a shooting on Linda Lane in Cadiz, Trigg County, about an hour and 20 minutes northwest of Nashville near the Kentucky-Tennessee border.
Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Ackley told WKDZ that no arrests have been made, and state police told WDKY that this is an “isolated incident” and that there is no danger to the public.
According to state police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a man who was reportedly armed entered the home. He told the Marshall County DailyThe man then forced his way into the room.
The homeowner quickly shot and killed the man, and the alleged intruder was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities told WDKY.
