Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) blasted Harris at a rally in Virginia, warning that she is “a million times worse” than President Biden.
“Joe Biden will go down in history not just as a give-upper, but as one of the worst presidents of the United States of America. But, my friends, Kamala Harris is a million times worse, and everyone knows it,” Vance said minutes earlier. At his meeting Monday in Radford, Virginia.
Former President Donald Trump announced last week that he would nominate Vance as his running mate in the November election, and since then the first-term senator has been in the spotlight as he works to win over voters.
The Trump campaign and its allies have strongly opposed Harris since Biden announced he was dropping out of the race on Sunday. Biden has since endorsed Harris as his replacement and Democrats have backed her as the party’s leading candidate.
The Virginia rally was Vance’s second campaign stop on Monday, the same day he held a rally in his hometown of Middletown, Ohio, his first solo rally as Trump’s running mate. At the Ohio rally, he joked that he was “pissed” about not being able to debate Harris.
Vance continued to slam Harris, accusing her of supporting Biden’s “failure” and lying “about his mental ability to serve as president.” He said Biden’s record was the same as Harris’ and that neither of them were “fit to serve as president.”
“When it comes to Joe Biden, can anybody acknowledge that if Joe Biden is not fit to run for president, he is not fit to serve as president of the United States?” he said.
“If Kamala Harris is so blind or corrupt that she cannot admit to the American people that Joe Biden should never have been president, then she is also unfit to be president,” he continued.
Ms Harris had warned Senator Vance ahead of his speech at the Republican National Convention last week, saying he was an “endorsement” for “extreme policies”.
“Extremist J.D. Vance has been bought by Elon Musk and Silicon Valley and is trying to distract attention from the fact that he is promising to raise taxes on working families and bailouts for corporations and billionaires,” Harris 2024 spokesman Joseph Costello said in a statement.
