Rep. Emilia Sykes, a Democrat seeking reelection in a Democratic-held Ohio district, on Tuesday ignored questions about Vice President Harris’ record on immigration policy.

“Congresswoman, do you think Kamala Harris has done a good job as border secretary?” Sykes was asked Tuesday at Rep. Rayburn’s Office Building in Washington, D.C.

Sykes ignored the question and continued walking, which prompted more questions.

“It’s not surprising – just two days after Sykes endorsed Harris, she is pretending not to know her,” former Ohio Republican Sen. Kevin Coughlin, who is running against Sykes in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, told Fox News Digital in a statement.

“With the support of Mr. Sykes, Border Commissioner Harris has created the worst humanitarian and security disaster in history at our nation’s border. I would pretend I don’t know about her either.”

DCCC spokesman Aidan Johnson, in a statement to Fox News Digital, noted that Harris’ name was pronounced incorrectly.

“If Republican trackers or Kevin Coughlin are asking questions about the vice president, they should show some respect and pronounce her name correctly,” Johnson said.

Sykes Supporting Harris He announced his candidacy for president on Sunday, vowing to work with Democrats and “unite” as their candidate.

Sykes, a first-term Democrat who won by five points in 2022, is seeking to defend his seat in a district that includes parts of two counties that President Trump handily won in 2020. The Cook Political Report has characterized the race as a “close Democratic contest.”
