Melania Trump to tell story of her ‘extraordinary life’ in new memoir

NEW YORK — Former First Lady Melania Trump Melania Trump is set to release a memoir this fall, “Melania,” which her office is billing as “the powerful and inspiring story of a woman who forged her own path, overcame adversity and defined personal excellence.” It will be the first memoir by Trump since her husband, the former president, was largely absent. “Melania” will be published by Skyhorse Publishing, which has published books by Donald Trump supporters such as former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and lawyer Alan Dershowitz. Skyhorse has also worked with third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former Trump aide Michael Cohen, who later became Trump’s harshest critic. Some of Skyhorse’s books feature forewords by Trump ally Steve Bannon.

Melania Trump’s memoir was announced by her office on Thursday, but no specific release date was given or indication of whether it would be published before then. Election Day in November. Trump has been featured in other books, including one by former adviser Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, though Wolkoff has never previously detailed her story.

The former first lady “offers an intimate portrait of a woman who lived an extraordinary life and invites readers into her world,” the release reads. “‘Melania’ also includes personal stories and family photos that she has never shared publicly before.”

A spokesperson said no further information was available beyond what was included in the release, which did not mention financial terms, promotional plans or whether the book is working with co-authors.

Donald Trump’s third wife, Melania Trump, has been a mysterious figure since her husband announced his candidacy for the presidential election in 2016. As First Lady, she has maintained privacy and focused on raising her son Barron and promoting the “Be Best” initiative, which supports the “social, emotional and physical health of children.” Melania Trump appeared at her husband’s 2024 presidential campaign launch event and attended the closing ceremony of the Republican National Convention last week, but has otherwise not participated in campaign activities. Her decision not to speak at this year’s convention marked a departure from the tradition of candidates’ wives and from the Republican gatherings of 2016 and 2020.

According to her office, the memoir will be released in two versions: a $150 “Collector’s Edition” that will be 256 pages, “every page in full color and each copy will be signed by the author,” and a “Memoir Edition” that will be 304 pages, including 48 pages of never-before-seen photographs. The book will retail for $40, with the autographed edition costing $75.

Both editions can be preordered exclusively through the first lady’s website, MelaniaTrump.com, and a spokesperson did not immediately comment on when they would be available for order or whether they could be ordered elsewhere.

Unlike other former presidents and first ladies, Donald and Melania Trump have not had their post-White House books published by mainstream New York publishers. Donald Trump published a number of books with Random House and Simon & Schuster before taking office, but after the election siege, many shunned him. The U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Since leaving Washington, Trump has published two books: a children’s book commemorating his time in the White House and a collection of letters from world leaders and notable people. Both were published by Winning Team Publishing, co-founded in 2021 by Donald Trump Jr. and former Trump campaign staffer Sergio Go.
