'Veep' producer: 'The Selina-est candidate is Donald Trump'

A producer for HBO’s hit political comedy “Veep” says former President Donald Trump is the candidate in this year’s presidential election who is most similar to main character Selina Meyer.

“The best candidate for Selina is Donald Trump” – David Mandel He said in an interview The Hollywood Reporter reported on Wednesday.

“He is vain, cares about his appearance, has astonishingly good relationships with people who are better looking than his children, is petty and vindictive, cares about his money, doesn’t believe in what he says and will say anything to get elected,” Mandel continued.

“Even Serena supported women’s rights. [choose] “On that point, she was adamant. Somewhere, she had a moral compass, or something. Maybe a gyroscope,” Mandel said in an interview.

“Veep” has garnered additional attention as people have drawn parallels between the show’s storylines and current news since President Biden withdrew from the election and endorsed Vice President Harris as his successor.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who played Meyer on “Veep,” previously told Variety that Harris told her that’s exactly how the show portrays life in Washington, D.C.

“Her husband, the First Gentleman, and she both said they love ‘Veep,'” Louis-Dreyfus said of meeting Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, “and they also said that she’s more like DC than anyone would like to admit.”

In an emailed statement to The Hill, Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chang said Mandel is “one of those elitist, naive Hollywood liberals who thinks he’s better than everyone else, but in reality he’s a pathetic little brat who craves attention because his parents never gave him any.”
