Six Democrats and all House Republicans voted to condemn Vice President Kamala Harris for failing to adequately stop foreigners from crossing illegally at the southern US border and for failing to secure the border. The bill, House Resolution 1371, passed the House with 220 votes in favor and 196 against.

The House Democrats who voted in favor of the resolution were:
Jared Golden (D-ME), Marie Grusenkamp Perez (D-WA), Mary Peltola (D-AK), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Don Davis (D-CA), and Yadira Carabeo (D-CO).
“Since being appointed Border Commissioner in the Biden Administration, Vice President Harris has done nothing to address the worsening border crisis. Her inaction has resulted in record numbers of illegal crossings, chaos in communities, and an erosion of the rule of law. No matter how much the media tries to rewrite VP Harris’ role in the border crisis, the American people know this is not just a failure of policy. It is a failure of leadership,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana).
Under Harris’ watch, the Biden-Harris administration has seen millions of illegal immigrants enter the U.S. across the border.
The resolution also noted that neither Harris nor Biden have had any conversations with US Border Patrol Commissioner Jason Owens.
The bill’s sponsor, Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY, RN), said on Twitter:
“Kamala Harris, every Democrat and the stenographers in the mainstream media will run from their records, but they can’t hide.”
“Kamala Harris’ failures as a border agent have led to violent crimes, rape and murder against innocent Americans. We will hold her and radical left Democrats accountable,” she continued.
Democrats, who opposed the resolution, accused House Republicans of misusing House resources for “election purposes.”
“Testing a new campaign message is not a good use of House time,” said Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss. “This may also be an ethical violation, as my Republican colleagues are blatantly using House resources for a campaign. And like so much other campaign literature, the political solution is premised on falsehoods and supported by cherry-picked statistics,” he added.
