Netanyahu responds to Hezbollah attack that killed children at soccer field: ‘This will not go unanswered’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to take appropriate action against Hezbollah after a rocket attack on Saturday killed 12 children and wounded dozens.

Netanyahu cut short his trip in the United States and immediately began his return to Israel following Saturday’s attack, when a Hezbollah rocket landed in northern Israel as children on a soccer field in a Druze community in the country were running for bomb shelters.

“Fellow Israelis, like you, I was horrified when I saw the horrific images following Hezbollah’s brutal attack on Majdal Shams,” Netanyahu said in a Hebrew statement. “Among the victims were young children who had been playing football with the others. We are all saddened by these scenes.”

“We welcome the families and the entire Druze community in these difficult times, which are also difficult for us,” he added.
