Conservatives Flip Harris Allies’ Claims that JD Vance Is Weird Back on Democrats

Political commentator Bill Kristol called Vance “very strange” and “outside the mainstream.”

“Normally the choice of a running mate doesn’t matter much,” Kristol said. “The choice of a running mate doesn’t matter much either. But Vance is out there and he’s weird and he’s self-conscious.”

During an interview with CBS Confronting the stateSen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said every day it becomes “more clear” that Vance is “doing more extreme things” and “more bizarre things.”

“Every day it becomes clear that Vance is doing more extreme, more bizarre, more outlandish things,” Schumer said. “President Trump is probably sitting there scratching his head, wondering why he chose this guy.”

More recently, Vance has come under fire from Harris’ presidential campaign and Democrats over his support for expanding and making permanent the child tax credit.

In a 2021 interview with Charlie Kirk, Vance said that someone who makes a certain amount of money and has “roughly three kids” should be able to “pay a different, lower tax rate” than someone who makes the same amount but doesn’t have kids.

“If you make $100,000 a year, $400,000 a year, and you have three children, you should pay a different, lower tax rate than someone making the same amount and not having children,” Vance said at the time.

Vance added that these “childless catty women” are “miserable about their lives and the choices they’ve made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too.”

The Ohio senator questioned how it could be that “we’ve turned our country over to people who have no real direct stake in it.”
