Biden top adviser Anita Dunn leaves White House for super PAC supporting Harris

Anita Dunn, a senior adviser to President Biden, is leaving the White House to join the top Democratic super PAC supporting the effort to elect Vice President Harris in November, according to information obtained by Fox News.

Dunn served as a political strategist and adviser to Biden’s 2020 campaign and worked in the White House during Biden’s first term.

“Four years ago, I was grateful that Anita Dunn was with me when I launched my campaign in a fight for the soul of our nation. I’ve known Anita my whole career,” Biden said in a statement Tuesday.

“She has served our country through three administrations and countless campaigns for candidates at all levels. Not only is she a key senior member of our team that helped us win the historic 2020 election, she is also an invaluable part of the White House.”

Biden said Dunn is “tough and proven, and her experience and intellect have helped deliver historic results for the American people.”

“I deeply value her counsel and friendship, and I will continue to rely on her collaboration and insight as we carry out our work over the next six months,” Biden said.

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve in the White House with this president and his team during this transformative term,” Dunn said.

Fox News has learned that Dunn has joined the super PAC Future Forward to help the group work on behalf of Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Before joining the White House, Dunn served as a senior adviser to Biden’s presidential campaign.

A source told Fox News that Dunn was widely credited with running the Biden 2020 campaign “very skillfully” in the interim period after the Iowa and New Hampshire elections and before then-Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon joined the team.

Dunn previously served as chief strategist for President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and later as White House communications director until 2009.

But Fox News sources said Dunn was effectively ousted from Biden’s inner circle in the days and weeks after Biden’s disastrous June debate defeat against former President Trump, despite having played a key role in preparing Biden for that showdown.

A source told Fox News that when Biden decided to announce he was ending his reelection campaign after the debate under pressure from within his Democratic Party, Dunn learned of the decision in a call with other Biden staffers just a minute before it was set to be released to the public.

Harris has backed away from some of the far-left positions she previously promoted.

Sources told Fox News there had been long-standing rifts between Hunter Biden, Dan and Dan’s husband, Bob Bauer, after Bauer urged Biden to keep his son’s legal troubles out of the White House.

After the debate, Hunter “got his way” and aides began excluding Dunn, the person said.

A source familiar with Dunn’s departure said she could have stayed on in her job if she had wanted.
