According to the Harris campaign, Vice President Harris and her running mate are scheduled to visit seven key battleground states next week, starting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
After Philadelphia, the pair will visit western Wisconsin, then Detroit, Michigan, and Raleigh, North Carolina. Later in the week, they are scheduled to visit Savannah, Georgia, Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada. The campaign said Harris and her future running mate will “criss-cross the country together to campaign to voters who will decide this election.”
Harris said Tuesday that she has not yet decided on her running mate but expects to make a decision by next Wednesday.
She’s focusing on battleground states:Bloomberg News/Morning Consult PollThe poll showed Ms Harris overturning former President Trump’s lead in the polls, with 48% of voters in battleground states saying they supported her, while 47% said they supported Mr Trump.
The Democratic National Committee said it expects her to choose her running mate by Aug. 7. If Democrats move forward with a virtual roll call vote, she could officially become the nominee as early as Thursday.
Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona have been mentioned as possible running mates for Harris, while Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg have also emerged as front-runners.
