Iran’s supreme leader ordered a direct attack on Israel just hours after top Hamas official Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an airstrike on Wednesday morning.

According to reports published on Wednesday, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued the crucial order during an emergency meeting of the country’s Supreme Court National Security Council held shortly after the assassination. The New York Times.
Khamenei said Iran would take revenge against Israel.
“Following this terrible and tragic incident that took place within the borders of the Islamic Republic, it is our duty to take revenge,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, John Kirby, US national security adviser for communications, said, “We maintain and will continue to maintain a level of readiness to defend our national security interests in the region.”
“We are not turning a blind eye to what Iran is capable of doing in the region and what it is demonstrating its capabilities.”
“If that happens, it doesn’t signal that we’re not willing to defend Israel from threats in the region, including those from Iran,” Kirby said.
“We currently maintain that capability and readiness,” he added.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about tensions between Israel and Tehran on Wednesday, warning that Israel could face future attacks and that the Jewish state was prepared for any scenario.
The assassination attempt in Iran has further increased tensions in the Middle East.
