Former President Donald Trump spoke at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJC) convention in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday, claiming that Vice President Kamala Harris has “suddenly” changed her attitude and “become black.”
During the event, Trump was asked whether he thought Harris was “running solely because she’s a black woman.”
“Well, I would say no. I think it might be a little bit different. I’ve known her indirectly for a long time. Not directly, but she’s always been of Indian descent,” Trump said. Said“She was just promoting her Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was black until a few years ago, when she became black. And now she wants to be known as black. So I don’t know if she’s Indian or black.”
Trump said Kamala Harris had “suddenly changed course” and become “black.”

“She has always identified as a Black woman from a historically Black college or university,” ABC News’ Rachel Scott chimed in.
“I respect both people, but she clearly doesn’t,” Trump added, “because she’s been Indian her whole life and then all of a sudden she turns around and becomes black.”
