Trump Defends Unity of MAGA Movement
President Donald Trump has countered claims from the establishment that the MAGA movement is fractured, asserting instead that it is “the strongest in history” and “never been more united.”
In response to a question from Nick Gilbertson of Breitbart News regarding why mainstream media portrays MAGA as divided, Trump emphasized the movement’s strength and provided examples to back his claims. He specifically referenced Senator Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana), who voted to convict Trump during his second impeachment, stating, “Look at what happened in Louisiana two nights ago. A senator was so disloyal to me and the Republican Party that he shouldn’t even be allowed to run.”
Trump also pointed to his campaign activities in Kentucky, where he is targeting Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.). “Let’s see what happens. It’s not easy to beat an incumbent, but we have a great candidate going against Massie. … It’s tonight. Good TV. Let’s see what happens there,” he mentioned.
The president reiterated his belief that MAGA has never been more united, hinting at an endorsement he plans to make regarding the Texas Senate race. “Actually, today I’m going to be making an endorsement in Texas, a great state. … I got the highest turnout in Texas history, and I love Texas. But I’m going to be making an endorsement today at 1:00 p.m., about 12:30 p.m. for the Texas Senate race, which is a big race,” Trump noted, expressing his gratitude for the question.
He mentioned a recent poll from CNN that claimed his approval rating among MAGA supporters is at 100%. “Even CNN did a poll a couple of weeks ago and said President Trump’s approval rating is 100 percent,” Trump noted, referring to Harry Enten, CNN’s chief data analyst.
He continued, “I predicted we would do well with the Michigan Muslims and win against Michigan State, and that’s exactly what we did. I did well and beat Michigan by a big margin. He made a lot of good predictions, but a poll he did two weeks ago showed that President Trump has 100 percent support from MAGA,” asserting that MAGA constitutes “the majority of Republicans.”
Trump remarked on the decline of RINOs within the party, saying, “They have largely disappeared. There are still a few of them left,” while voicing hope that MAGA candidates would succeed in future elections.
He concluded, “I will be releasing a statement soon about who I support as senator from Texas, and some say whoever I support will win. I don’t know if that’s true, but historically it’s absolutely true.”
