ICE Confirms Man In Deadly Shootout With Texas Cops Entered US Illegally

Federal immigration officials have confirmed that a man who died after a shootout with San Antonio police on Sunday had entered the U.S. illegally less than a year ago.

Jorge Jose Chacon Gutierrez allegedly exchanged gunfire inside an apartment early Sunday morning with three police officers who had responded to a domestic violence call. according to Chacon Gutierrez was killed in the shootout and Officer Viviana Rodriguez was taken to the hospital, local media reported. “On November 15, 2023, Jorge Jose Chacon Gutierrez, 26, of Venezuela, entered the United States near Eagle Pass, Texas, without being inspected by an immigration officer, granted admittance or granted parole,” a spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told the Daily Caller New Foundation.

“That same day, he was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) and entered removal proceedings after being issued a Notice to Appear requiring him to appear before an immigration judge at a later date,” the ICE statement continued.
