A California judge has granted Hallie Biden immunity to testify in Hunter Biden’s criminal tax trial, scheduled for next month.

Hallie Biden, the widow of Beau Biden and ex-wife of Hunter Biden, previously told prosecutors she did not intend to testify at the trial, which begins on September 5, “based on the privilege against self-incrimination,” according to court documents obtained by Fox News.

Biden is accused of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes and filing false tax returns between 2016 and 2019. He is alleged to have used the money to fund a lavish lifestyle, spending millions on drugs, escort services, luxury cars and other expensive items.

“Harry Biden will be ordered to provide any testimony or other information that he has refused or is refusing to provide on the basis of self-incrimination privilege regarding all matters that may be examined in the course of this trial,” U.S. District Judge Mark Scarci wrote this week.

“It is further ordered that no testimony or other information compelled pursuant to this order, or any information derived directly or indirectly from such testimony or information, will be used in any criminal case against Hallie Biden; however, this order does not provide immunity from prosecution for perjury, false statements, or failure to comply with this order,” he added.

Hallie Biden testified against Hunter under the same immunity agreement in a federal firearms trial in Delaware earlier this year, according to the Washington Examiner.

The trial was originally scheduled to begin on June 20, but presiding Judge Scalsi granted Hunter Biden’s request to postpone the trial.
