John Ladd, who owns a 16,000-acre ranch near the southern Arizona border, recently New York Post He is frustrated with the Biden-Harris administration, which he says is creating an unprecedented migration crisis.
Rudd argued that his ranch in Cochise County has become a hotspot for illegal immigration, and noted that the federal government has reopened ports along the border for the three-month monsoon season, resulting in an increase in illegal crossings.
“Even if it’s not raining anywhere near us.”
post report Last year, we reported on the Administration’s efforts to seasonally open 114 gates along the Arizona border wall. The massive gates are welded open to prevent them from closing. Additionally, Customs and Border Protection is overstaffed and cannot staff the 12-foot gates full time to prevent and deter illegal crossings. The report noted that human traffickers are using this opportunity to funnel thousands of illegal immigrants into the United States.
Officials told The Post last year that in addition to the monsoon season, another reason the gates were ordered open was to allow for the migration of endangered antelope.
“They’re drawing people to certain areas, it’s intentional and there’s no other way to look at it,” Rudd said.
“It’s ridiculous. I’m sure there are better ideas than this,” Rudd continued. “If we have to do it, we can seal it off. We can seal it off in case it floods. Or we can send agents here, but they can’t do it. We don’t have the manpower for that.”
“The main thing is we don’t have asylum seekers. The people we take in don’t want to give up, and we have the loading vehicles to pick them up and take them wherever they want to go,” Rudd said. “The majority of them are men of military age. They come from all over.”
Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance met with Rudd during a visit to the southern border on Thursday. Rudd said he was “impressed” that Vance had asked for his advice on responding to the ongoing crisis, adding that “no one from the Biden administration has been here.”
“It’s incredibly frustrating to have the border gates open. It’s like an open door to the United States,” a Border Patrol source told The Post.
“What is the point of having a wall if it is only going to be open for a few months of the year? They say it is monsoon season and the wall should remain open even when there is no rain nearby,” the source added. “If you close the gate, you will be shouted at. You are inviting smugglers in. I have seen trucks drive through the open gate. I have seen over 50 bodies pouring in. It is truly indiscriminate.”
Rudd expressed concern about a potential Kamala Harris presidency, telling The Washington Post, “She’s not capable of governing this country, and if she did, she’d do worse than Biden.”
