Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kali Lake announced Tuesday she will host an event featuring current and former Democrats supporting her campaign.
The coalition, called “Democrats/Former Democrats Supporting Kali Lake & America First,” came to light after Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign held a press conference in Mesa, Arizona, to announce its “Republicans Supporting Harris” initiative and after Lake’s Senate opponent, Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., announced a coalition called “Republicans and Independents Supporting Ruben.”
Lake called on reporters to give his event on Thursday as much coverage as Harris and Gallego’s.

“Hello media, I know that Kamala and her favorite liberal Congressman Ruben Gallego’s ‘Republicans’ have been giving so much coverage to Kamala/Ruben/America’s last press conference,” Lake wrote on social media platform X.
“We ask that you give equal coverage to our event next Thursday called ‘Democrats/Ex-Democrats with Kali Lake and America First,'” she continued. “Please save your calendars. We’ll let you know the meeting place and time. It’s sure to be an eye-opening experience.”
Gallego on Sunday announced the endorsement of 40 Republicans and independents, including officials and activists who have supported other Democrats, seeking to prove he has bipartisan support as he tries to defeat Lake in the November election. Arizona Republic.

According to the media, at least 10 of Gallego’s supporters have also voiced their support for Harris’ presidential bid.
The group of Republicans backing Harris is made up of the “Never Trump” faction, which officially launched on Sunday and includes several former Trump White House staffers, including Stephanie Grisham and Olivia Troy. Harris’ campaign is trying to recast her as a more moderate candidate ahead of the November presidential election, where she will face former President Trump.
Lake and Gallego will also face off in the November general election. Arizona’s vacant Senate seat, currently held by outgoing Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, is rated a Democrat favorite by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.
