Rumble CEO joins Musk’s advertising antitrust suit going after ‘harmful monopoly’

Social media platform Rumble joins the fray Elon Musk’s X The company filed a lawsuit against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), alleging that the global advertising group is violating antitrust laws by illegally boycotting certain companies and platforms.

Rumble CEO and founder Chris Pavolowski said on FOX Business Network’s “The Big Money Show“The Global Federation of Advertisers, which formed the GARM Consortium to serve its member advertisers, has improperly used its brand safety standards to effectively boycott certain platforms.”

“If you have a big consortium that monopolizes all the big ad budgets that dictates brand safety standards, it can also discriminate against certain voices on other platforms,” Pavolowski said.

“If they don’t like something that might be said on Rumble or X, they can say, ‘We’re not going to touch that,’ and then advertising rates go up because they now only have access to a certain part of the market, which in turn drives up the price for shareholders and the brand,” he explained.

Pavolfsky said the Sherman Act Federal Antitrust Laws This law, which prohibits anti-competitive agreements and practices that monopolize or attempt to monopolize markets, prohibits the type of activity in which GARM has engaged.

“When you have a monopoly and you collect all the power and control and you set the standards for how money should be spent and you create a monopoly, that’s not a free market. Sherman Act It’s not allowed, so it’s illegal,” he said.

“Monopolies have different rules and standards. What the World Federation of Advertisers has done is basically created a monopoly that is telling all advertisers how to spend their money based on certain statements. So you can’t use the First Amendment to be a monopoly and tell them how to spend their money. That’s harmful to advertisers,” Pavlovsky added.

The World Federation of Advertisers established GARM in 2019, which is made up of advertisers, agencies, media companies, platforms and industry associations.
