Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (Democrat), Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, praised young children as “stars” of the “Governor Walz Pride Parade” during his 2017 gubernatorial campaign.
In June 2017, while campaigning for governor, Walz Posts A video of children taking part in the “Governor Waltz Pride Parade.” Some of the children were wearing rainbow skirts and shirts with his name, “Waltz,” on them, matching the colors of the LGBTQ+ rainbow flag.
“I can honestly say that they were the true stars of this Sunday’s Governor Walz Pride Parade,” Walz said, proudly sharing a video of innocent children taking part in the LGBTQ+ political event.

This isn’t surprising given Walz’s open support for the LGBTQ+ movement and that under his leadership, drag queen Tomi St. James performed in the Capitol Rotunda for Transgender Day of Visibility in 2023. report, Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan (D-Minn.) also attended.

Walz also has a history of dismissing concerns about companies being pro-LGBTQ+, suggesting the concerns are “absurd.”

Walz made the remarks in response to criticism from South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (Republican) in 2023. In an interview a few days earlier, Noem said conservatives should think twice about shopping at Target after it was revealed that the company had made a donation in 2022 to the NDN Collective, a group that calls for the removal of Mount Rushmore, which it considers an “international symbol of white supremacy.”

“Where I live, the governor of a neighboring state claimed this week that Target T-shirts with rainbows on them destroy democracy. That’s nonsense. It’s completely insane. I think most people in Minnesota agree,” Walz said, without noting that Pride Month apparel was not the specific target of criticism in Noem’s alleged response.

The fact that he immediately pointed to those concerned about woke corporate LGBTQ+ promotion, even though Noem didn’t focus on that point in her specific remarks, is even more meaningful because it shows how Walz really feels about Americans who are tired of having a pro-LGBTQ+ agenda forced on them and their children.

It’s also worth noting that, according to Minnesota Democratic Representative Lee Finke, Governor Walz has “always supported” a pro-trans bill in 2023 that would target out-of-state young people with irreversible health care services.
