Elon Musk may be a tech billionaire trying to colonize Mars, but his political views are reminiscent of your average hard-working American back on Earth.
He made that clear in a recent podcast interview with Rex Friedman, who asked Musk what the philosophy was behind his support for former President Donald Trump.
“People tend to take an endorsement as, ‘I wholeheartedly agree 100% with everything that person has ever done in their life,'” Musk began. “That’s not true for everyone.”
While that wasn’t the only reason Musk supported Trump, he was deeply impressed by Trump’s immediate response to the assassination attempt on him.
“Trump has shown courage under attack,” Musk told Fridman. “He’s been shot, he’s got blood coming out of his face, and he puts his fist up and says, ‘Fight!’ That’s incredible. You can’t fake bravery in a situation like that. Most people would have just ducked.”
Musk noted that while Trump is “strong and brave,” Biden “can’t even walk up stairs.”
“I mean, who do you want to be dealing with the toughest people — other world leaders who are pretty tough themselves?” he explained.
The billionaire also supports President Trump’s policies, telling Fridman, “We want a secure border, we want safe and clean cities, and we want to at least spend less.”
“We are currently spending enough to bankrupt the country. The interest paid on the U.S. Treasury this year exceeded the total spending of the Department of Defense. If we continue on this path, all of the federal government’s taxes will simply be used to pay the interest, and if we continue on this path, we will end up in the same dire situation that Argentina has been in before,” he explained.
“I don’t think we should take America’s prosperity for granted,” he continued. “We have to reduce the size of government, we have to cut spending, and we have to live within our means.”
Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report agreed with Musk’s sentiments.
“Elon Musk continues to do well,” Rubin said.
