PALM BEACH, Fla. — Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News on Thursday night that as the next president, he intends to negotiate peace between Russia and Ukraine before he is sworn in as the next U.S. president.
Speaking in an hour-long interview with Breitbart News at his luxury beachside resort and club, Mar-a-Lago, here in South Florida, Trump said he wanted the war between Russia and Ukraine to be “resolved.”
“I want to see this resolved,” Trump said. “I want to get it done.”
Trump said he knows Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky well, and believed he could negotiate a peace deal to end the “death” and “destruction” if he is re-elected on November 5.
“I know the leaders of both countries,” Trump said. “I know President Putin very well. I want to see the death stop. There’s death and destruction. They’re destroying the whole fabric of certain parts of the world. I want to negotiate and resolve this.”

Trump said his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, would not end the war in Ukraine, but would keep it going and continue to funnel hundreds of billions of American tax dollars to Ukraine. He said Harris would do nothing and that if she wins the November election, “millions of people will die” because of her inaction. He also said Harris’ incompetence could drag the world into a world war.
“I don’t think she has a clue,” Trump said. “I don’t think she’ll be able to handle it at all. I don’t think she’ll do anything. If it carries on like this, millions of people will die. It could lead to a world war. She doesn’t have the capacity to go through with it. I would like to go through with it. I’ve always had a very good relationship with both of them, and I think I’m in a very good position. It would have been easier to go through with it. It would have never started. If I was there, it would never have started.”
Trump also said that if he wins, he hopes a peace deal to end the war can be negotiated between the Nov. 5 election and the inauguration on Jan. 20, 2025.
“If you look at the heritage of this country, you see that most of the cities are destroyed,” Trump said of Ukraine. “Totally destroyed. Have you seen these cities? Not a single building is standing. The country is devastated. So I want to solve this, and I can solve it, and I want to solve it before I become president and get into the White House.”
More details about Trump’s latest interview with Breitbart News will be released soon.
