North Carolina husband accused of poisoning daughter after allegedly killing wife with eyedrops: report

A North Carolina man who was charged with killing his wife with eye drops in 2018 is now accused of trying to poison his daughter using the same method. According to the Gaston Gazette.

Prosecutors said Joshua Hunsucker, 39, gave the drug to his then-10-year-old son in February 2023, five years after he allegedly killed Stacey Hunsucker, 32.

Local media reports said the poisoning, which sent the girl to hospital, was intended to implicate his wife’s parents, John and Suzie Robinson, in Stacey’s death.

Prosecutors said Hunsucker killed his wife with eye drops containing the chemical tetrahydrozoline and then lied about the cause of death to win a $250,000 settlement. Life insurance policy.

Prosecutors allege that Hunsucker buried her immediately to hide the actual cause of death, but kept a vial of her blood because she was an organ donor.

After suspicions began to swirl around her husband, investigators tested his blood and revealed poisoning.

Prosecutors said Hunsucker put eye drops in her drink over a long period of time, ultimately leading to her death.

Witnesses told police he said if he ever killed someone he would use eye drops.

Hunsucker was arrested in December 2019 and released on $1.5 million bail while awaiting trial on a first-degree murder charge.

Joshua Hunsucker is accused of murdering his wife, Stacey Hunsucker, to collect a $250,000 insurance payout.

But he was called back to court this week to answer the new charges, and prosecutors asked for his bail to be revoked, which the judge granted.

Hunsucker also faces several new counts of witness intimidation for allegedly harassing the Robinson family at their home.

He has repeatedly tried to pin the blame for his wife’s death on his wife’s parents, who are witnesses in the case against him.

Hunsucker falsely claimed that John Robinson had assaulted and kidnapped him, and told police that Robinson had beaten him with a handgun, bound him with zip ties and injected him with a poison.
