PALM BEACH, Fla. — Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively that his general election opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, “hates Israel” and “doesn’t like Jewish people, even though she’s married to a Jewish person.”
In an hour-long interview with Breitbart News on Thursday night at his luxury seaside resort and club, Mar-a-Lago, Trump argued that Harris’ selection of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate shows “how liberal she is.”
“By choosing Walz, by choosing the governor of Minnesota, she’s shown how liberal she is,” Trump said. “She hates Israel. She’s so awful to the Jewish people. You can’t believe how badly she treats the Jewish people and Israel. It’s astonishing.”
Trump also said he wanted tensions between Israel and the Palestinians to be “resolved,” just as he had said earlier in the interview that he wanted peace in Ukraine.
“But that’s another issue. I’m hoping that gets resolved,” Trump said.
Asked whether his decision to ignore Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who is Jewish, in favour of Minnesota’s Waltz as his running mate was a sign of his dislike of Jews, Trump said Harris’ “action on Israel” proved it.
“She hates Jews, even though she’s married to a Jew. She hates Jews,” Trump said. “She may be married to a Jew, but that doesn’t mean she likes Israel or Jews, because she hasn’t made that clear. This isn’t a matter of diversion, because I think the other candidates in that group were better than either of them. The other candidates in that group were much better than Shapiro. But it’s her behavior toward Israel that’s the issue. Forget Shapiro. That’s a minor thing. Her behavior really shows how bad a person she is toward Jews and Israel.”
Trump also said the Democratic Party has now become the party of Hamas.
“They’re pro-Hamas,” Trump said. “Schumer has become a Palestinian. They’re pro-Hamas. There’s no question about it.”
Trump said the differences between Republicans and Democrats on Israel are clear.
“It’s amazing that this has happened because 15 years ago it would have been unthinkable that people could become so radicalized or so extreme,” Trump said. “Today, we have Democrats in Congress, we have some Democrats in the senate, and we see them going down a similar path. Republicans are pro-Israel, Democrats are pro-Hamas.”
