Former President Trump’s campaign acknowledged to Fox News on Saturday that some of its internal communications had been hacked.
The liberal media outlet Politico reached out to the Trump campaign after it began receiving internal documents from the campaign.
“These documents were illegally obtained from foreign sources hostile to the United States and were intended to interfere in the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our entire Democratic electoral process,” Trump campaign communications director Steven Thune said.
“A new Microsoft report on Friday found that Iranian hackers breached the accounts of ‘senior’ officials in the US presidential campaign in June 2024, roughly coinciding with the time when President Trump will be selecting his running mate,” he added.

Chang noted that the hacks attributed to Iran occurred “around the same time as the tragedy in Butler, Pennsylvania, and after recent reports that Iran was plotting to assassinate President Trump.”
He added, “Iran knows that President Trump will end their reign of terror just as he did during his first four years in the White House. Media and outlets that reprint documents and internal communications are following the orders of America’s enemies and doing exactly what they want.”

The documents sent to Politico included “dossier” dating back to February about Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, the outlet reported.
The Trump campaign did not say whether it had contacted law enforcement about the hack.
It was not immediately clear whether Politico used the hacked materials in its reporting. Fox News Digital has reached out to Politico for comment.
