Michelle Pfeiffer to star in ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff ‘The Madison’: ‘Excited for this!’

Michelle Pfeiffer is the latest star to join the world of Yellowstone.

The 66-year-old actress will star in and executive produce “Madison,” a spinoff of the hit flagship series. Variety reported On Thursday.

Pfeiffer confirmed the casting news in a post on her Instagram page.

“It’s a secret out. I’m excited! #Madison,” the three-time Oscar nominee wrote alongside a screenshot of the Variety article.

Paramount Network reported via Variety that “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan will write the script for “The Madisons,” which will follow a family originally from New York City who now lives in the Madison River Valley in central Montana.

“Michelle Pfeiffer has an incredible ability to imbue every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace, making her the perfect anchor for The Madison, the newest chapter in the ‘Yellowstone’ franchise from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan,” Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and president and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement to Variety.

“The Madison” marks Pfeiffer’s return to television after starring as Betty Ford in Showtime’s anthology series “The First Lady” in 2022. A premiere date for “The Madison” has not yet been announced.

Originally titled “2024,” “The Madison” is a sequel to “Yellowstone” set in the present day. The show was first announced in November 2023, after Paramount revealed that the final episode of “Yellowstone” wouldn’t air until November 2024 due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes last fall.

At the same time, Paramount announced that another spinoff titled “1944” is also in development. “Yellowstone” has already spawned hit spinoff shows “1883” and “1923.”

Yellowstone, which was released in June 2018, tells the story of the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who own the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in Montana, a vast swath of land in Montana that has been owned by the Dutton family for generations.

In June, Costner, 69, who just released the first chapter of the four-part Western series “Horizon: An American Saga,” announced that he would not be appearing in the second half of “The Yellow One’s” fifth and final season.
