Vice President Kamala Harris mirrored a campaign promise first made by former President Donald Trump to eliminate the tip tax.
At a campaign rally in Nevada on Saturday, Harris said Acknowledged She noted that the rally was also attended by members of the Culinary Union Local 226, and vowed that if elected in November she would work to “raise the minimum wage” and “eliminate tip taxes for service and hospitality workers.”
Harris’ pledge came after Trump declared at a rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, in June that if elected president, his administration would “not tax tips.”
“I know Culinary 226 is in the house,” Harris said. said “And as everyone in Nevada knows, the Culinary Union has led our country on labor rights and worker dignity. I’ve been so proud to have worked beside you for so many years. When I was California’s Attorney General, we worked together to crack down on wage theft. When I was a U.S. Senator, we fought together for paid family and medical leave. And earlier this year, here in Las Vegas, we celebrated your historic contract win. And I promise all of you here: if I am President, I will continue to fight for America’s working families, including by raising the minimum wage and eliminating the tip tax for service and hospitality workers.”
Kamala announced that she was plagiarizing President Trump’s “no tip tax” proposal.

At a roundtable discussion at an African-American church in Michigan in June, President Trump reiterated that his administration “is not going to tax tips.”
“Tell that to the waiters and waitresses and people who get tipped, because a lot of people get tipped,” Trump said. “Tax drivers and caddies and all kinds of other people get tipped. I’m not going to put a tax on tips. The tax will be lifted immediately.”
Trump criticized Harris for recently promising to repeal the tip tax, saying “she just wants to do that for political purposes.”
“Now that her ‘honeymoon’ period is over and she’s starting to lose ground in the polls, Kamala Harris has simply copied my no-tip-tax policy,” Trump wrote. post On Truth Social: “The difference is, she won’t do it. The former president was also spotted leaving a $500 tip at a restaurant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, writing “Vote for Trump, no tax on tips” on the check.
