Despite the apparent lack of enthusiasm, Democrats are forging ahead, selecting Harris as their candidate without the help of actual voters. The decision was made official on Friday, when the Democratic National Committee (DNC) nominated Harris. Harris was the only eligible candidate to receive a vote, losing the support of 14 million Democratic voters in the process.
Former President Donald Trump, who is Harris’ rival, recently criticized how she became the nominee, calling her the “first loser.”
“She was the first to lose when we had the Democratic primary system. She was the first to drop out. And she dropped out. She had no votes, she had no support, and by the way, she was a bad debater. A very bad debater,” he said.
