CNN host Casey Hunt said on “CNN This Morning” Monday that SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk became a supporter of former President Donald Trump because “X had become a breeding ground for the spread of misinformation.”
Hunt said: “Donald Trump has found a new ally in this election in billionaire Elon Musk. The two will appear later tonight on the platform once known as Twitter and now known as X, with Musk promising an “unscripted, no-holds-barred conversation.” Trump is now becoming accustomed to Musk’s endorsement in the wake of the assassination attempt, despite his previous criticism of the SpaceX and Tesla CEO.”
“I now support electric vehicles, and I have no choice, Elon, because Elon has endorsed me so strongly, so I have no choice, Elon,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Atlanta earlier this month.
“Musk’s emergence as a Trump supporter comes as X has become a hotbed of misinformation. Since acquiring the site nearly two years ago, Musk’s site has struggled to control topics ranging from the election to the assassination attempt on Trump. At times, Musk himself has spread misinformation, even posting and then deleting a conspiracy theory about an attack on House Speaker Paul Pelosi in October 2022,” Hunt said.
