Jazz Chisolm exits game early in potential Yankees injury concern

CHICAGO — On an already poor night for the Yankees, Jazz Chisholm Jr. gave the team more cause for concern.

On Monday against the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field, Chisholm dove headfirst into home plate to score in the second inning but was replaced by a pinch hitter after suffering an apparent injury.

Chisholm came to bat left-handed, and his left arm/shoulder appeared to take some of the impact of catcher Corey Lee’s touch.

Before it was revealed that Chisholm had been injured on the play, the play was the highlight of an otherwise somber night for the Yankees.

Chisholm singled, stole second base and then ran to third on a pitch to Anthony Volpe, who grounded out to shortstop home.

Chisholm didn’t stop running around third base and dove home just before the tag, putting the Yankees up 4–2.

Chisholm, who was 2-for-3 on the night, held third base for the next two innings before reaching base as a pinch hitter for Ben Rice in the seventh.
