A resurfaced video of Harris’ 2019 town hall, during which she was running for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, shows her responding in the affirmative to a question from an attendee about whether she would work to close migrant detention centers, a response consistent with other comments she made against increased border security as a 2020 presidential candidate and as a senator from California. It was not immediately clear whether Harris still supports closing migrant detention centers, and her campaign did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Harris’ campaign has released at least two different ads claiming that if elected president she would “fix the border” and crack down on illegal immigration by increasing the number of Border Patrol agents.
