Trump ‘Clearly Feeling Cornered,’ Struggling Against VP Harris

Maggie Haberman, a senior political reporter for The New York Times, told CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” on Tuesday that she thinks former President Donald Trump is struggling to find ways to attack his opponent, President-elect Kamala Harris.

Haberman said, “She’s a woman and she’s a Black woman, two factors that have proven pretty difficult for him in the past. His allies would say he’s an equal opportunity offender and is aggressive towards everyone. It’s certainly true that he’s insulting a variety of people, but he seems to have a really hard time with female opponents, female critics, especially Black women who are critics.”

She continued, “Trump is a poor actor and we’ve seen him repeat the same thing over and over again. As you say, he’s trying to attack Kamala Harris in the same way he attacked President Obama in 2011, when Obama was harboring the idea of running for office and spreading lies about birthright issues that suggested the first black president was ineligible to serve.”

Haberman added: “Trump is surrounded by a lot of people who espouse conspiracy theories, who dislike what they see as the establishment or who are critical of certain Republicans. When Trump feels cornered, he tends to listen to those people, and he clearly feels cornered right now.”
