Actor Johnny Wactor family and friends urge more action from police to find his killers

Family and friends of actor Johnny Wactor on Tuesday called on the public and authorities to act to find and convict his killer.

The former “General Hospital” actor was shot May 25 in downtown Los Angeles while thwarting thieves attempting to steal catalytic converters from cars, authorities said.

No arrests have been made yet.

“I urge anyone who knows anything to come forward,” the actress’ mother, Scarlett Wachter, who lives in South Carolina, said at a news conference outside Los Angeles City Hall.

“Knowing that they were caught and convicted will help heal me and his brothers.”

Police on August 5 released security camera images of the three unidentified suspects and the getaway car — a stolen black 2018 Infiniti Q50 — and asked for the public’s assistance.

Johnny Wactor was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and grew up in the nearby town of Summerville. He played Brando Corbin on the ABC soap opera General Hospital from 2020 to 2022.

He also appeared in films and TV series such as ‘Station 19’, ‘NCIS’ and ‘Westworld’.

Scarlett Wachter previously said her son was returning home from work at a rooftop bar with coworkers when he saw someone parked at his car and assumed it was being towed.

A masked suspect opened fire, his mother said.

“Sadness is my constant companion,” she said Tuesday.

“I can’t celebrate his birthday on August 31st. He would have turned 38. I can’t ask him if he’s coming home for Christmas. I can’t ask him how his day went.”

Others at the news conference called on Mayor Karen Bass and other leaders to do more to fight crime.

“We want to ensure that no family has to endure the pain that Scarlett is currently enduring,” City Councilman Kevin De Leon said.

“We want justice for Johnny and we’re sure we’ll get it.”
