Homicides are plunging in Biden’s last year compared to Trump’s: report

Reports show the number of murders in major American cities during the first six months of President Biden’s final term was significantly lower than during the same period under former President Trump’s administration.

Compared to 2020, homicides in 66 cities fell 13% between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2024, according to data from the Major Cities Mayors Association (MCCA). According to Axios.

According to the website, Boston saw an 80% drop in homicides in the first six months of 2024, Philadelphia saw a 70% drop, Baltimore saw a 45% drop and Miami saw a 29% drop.

But he added that Portland, Oregon, saw a 278% increase in murders, Seattle saw a 59% increase and Las Vegas saw a 55% increase.

Overall, 3,451 homicides were reported by 66 agencies in the first half of 2020, according to MCCA data.

The Trump campaign has pushed back against Axios’ analysis.

“While it may be true that some cities saw lower rates of some categories of violent crime in the first six months of 2024 than in 2023, violent crime still increased significantly under President Trump compared to 2019,” the spokesperson said.

“Comparing the data in the Axios report with the MCCA’s 2019 report, a very different picture emerges: cities in battleground states were safer under President Trump, a story the liberal media has refused to cover because they fully support Kamala,” the researchers added.

The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital on Wednesday.

MCCA describes itself as “the professional organization of police executives representing major cities in the United States and Canada” with a mission to “provide a forum for police executives in population centers to address policing challenges and issues, influence national and international policies affecting police services, promote the development of current and future police leaders, and encourage and sponsor research that furthers this mission.”
