Trump blames X tech issues for ‘strange’ voice during Elon Musk interview

Former President Donald Trump has claimed that technical issues were the reason why X’s voice sounded “slightly different and strange” during his highly-anticipated interview with billionaire Elon Musk.

Trump, 78, slammed the social media platform after viewers of a livestreamed interview on Monday night questioned whether the Republican presidential nominee was slurring his speech or slurring his words.

“Unfortunately, the complexities of modern devices and cell phone technology have caused my voice to sound somewhat different and odd in some areas,” Trump said in a Truth Social post late Tuesday, addressing concerns about his own voice.

“So we’ve released an actual flawless recording of the conversation.”

The former commander in chief also praised his two-hour long chat with the tech giant, which was watched simultaneously by over 1.2 million X users.

“My conversation with Elon last night was heard by a record-breaking audience and was truly special because Elon is a special person himself. I thank him for his strong support!” Trump added in the post.

The interview was initially delayed by about 40 minutes. Musk initially blamed the glitch on a server attack, but later backtracked, saying it was the result of a “self-destructive error” and a “mistake” by X-Team.

“Given the attention this conversation was getting, it was obviously 100% likely that a DDOS attack would take place,” Musk said. A DDOS attack is a “distributed denial of service” that occurs when an online site stops working by flooding a server with fake users and blocking inbound traffic.

“We made some unforced errors ourselves,” he added, responding to numerous complaints.

“But the X team did a great job fending off the attacks and correcting their mistakes. All’s well that ends well.”

At the X Conference, Trump and Musk discussed several key issues for the 2024 election, including immigration, foreign policy, inflation, government spending and energy.
