In an interview on Tuesday, former Georgia Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan (R) argued that while Harris is a Democrat, it’s perfectly fine for Republicans to support her, and called on more Republicans to support her.
“I think it’s important to highlight to Republicans across the country the fact that just because you vote for Kamala Harris in 2024 doesn’t mean you’re a Democrat,” Duncan told CNN. Anchor Jim Acosta “Laura Coates Live”
“It just means you’re a patriot,” Duncan continued. “You’re doing your duty as an American to take responsibility and to take back the future of this country.”
Duncan, one of the few prominent Republicans to endorse the vice president for president, has been a fierce critic of former President Donald Trump in recent years.
The Georgia Republican said he also believes “it’s the middle 10 percent that’s going to decide this election, all types of makes and models.”
“Some, like me, are lifelong Republicans and extremely conservative, but have simply seen Donald Trump behave in ways that should not be in the office of ‘president.’ And then there are the centrists and people in between,” Duncan added.
Harris’ campaign continues to gain momentum and her approval rating is rising in the polls.
A recent New York Times/Siena College poll showed her leading Trump by 4 points in key battleground states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
