A Philadelphia man has pleaded guilty to stabbing his neighbor to death after the neighbor threatened him for his loud snoring.
Christopher Casey, 56, of Upper Moreland, was sentenced Aug. 7 in Montgomery County Court to 11.5 to 23 months in county jail, followed by three years of probation, after pleading guilty to manslaughter and possession of tools of crime, according to court documents.
Casey was originally charged with third-degree murder in the Jan. 14 death of 62-year-old Robert Wallace, who lived in the two-story home next door and shared a wall with him.

Prosecutors said Casey stabbed Wallace after Wallace pushed open a first-floor window of his home and threatened to kill him because he was snoring.
According to the victim’s relatives, the noise had prevented him from sleeping and the fatigue had affected his life and work.

Mr Casey apologised to Wallace’s family in court and said the murder was “unfortunate”.
Mr Casey’s lawyer said his client’s life had been threatened multiple times.
“He was afraid of this man and didn’t think he had any other choice,” said his lawyer, James Lyons.
He called his client “a really good person who was not prepared to deal with this kind of ongoing abuse and intimidation.”
