Kamala Harris’ past is coming back to haunt her now: Harris Faulkner
Professor Marty McCully of Johns Hopkins University appeared on “The Faulkner Focus” to explain the problems with the government-run health care system and to comment on the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ position on gender reassignment surgery for children.
Vice President Kamala Harris previously led a group of Democratic senators in calling for budget cuts to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and a total rejection of funding for additional Border Patrol agents and a border wall.
In 2018, then-Senator Harris and other Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee led several other Democrats in sending a letter to the Senate Appropriations Committee. “We further urge the Committee to reject President Trump’s budget proposal to hire new Border Patrol personnel at this time,” they wrote.
Another signatory to the letter opposing President Trump’s administration and his fiscal 2019 budget request was Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, who faces an uphill battle for re-election in November.

At the time, lawmakers petitioned budget directors to “reject any funding for President Trump’s border wall.”
“We call on you to defund the Administration’s reckless immigration enforcement efforts that are ripping families apart and hurting our economy,” they said at the time.
Harris, Baldwin and other co-signers denounced the Trump administration’s expansion of immigration enforcement, which they argued “is indiscriminate and fails to distinguish between Dreamers and hard-working individuals with deep ties to their communities and actual threats to public safety.”
At the time, the Trump administration had declared the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, known by Democrats as “Dreamers,” unconstitutional and abolished it. The Supreme Court later ruled against the administration, finding that it had failed to justify its argument that the Obama-era program was illegal from the start. However, the Supreme Court did not rule that the program could not be abolished.

DACA allows undocumented immigrants who entered the US as children to apply for a renewable two-year deferral of deportation. Applicants can receive work authorization but do not receive legal residence status.
In their letter, the senators pointed to the administration’s enforcement of the law against undocumented immigrants who have no criminal records in the U.S. as evidence of an “indiscriminate” approach.

“In fiscal year 2017, arrests of individuals without criminal histories through ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (EROs) doubled compared to the previous year,” Harris, Baldwin and their colleagues wrote. “In the last three months of 2017, arrests of individuals without criminal histories by ICE tripled compared to the same period the previous year.”
Democrats also suggested ICE enforcement actions undermine “public safety” by detaining illegal immigrants “at work and in our neighborhoods.”

“Tammy Baldwin understands the need to fix our broken immigration system and invest in border security, and she also understands that Wisconsinites do not want to go back to the brutal days of family separations at the border. That’s why she has consistently voted, including through recent bipartisan agreements, to bring more agents and technology to strengthen border security, create a fair immigration system, and stop illegal drugs like fentanyl from entering the country,” a spokesperson for Baldwin said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment by publication.
Harris has taken a hardline stance on border security since launching her 2024 presidential campaign.
“We know our immigration system is broken and we know what it takes to fix it, including, of course, strong border security and comprehensive reform, including a path to citizenship,” she told an audience in Las Vegas, Nevada, recently.

Harris criticized President Trump for encouraging Republican senators not to support a border and immigration bill negotiated earlier this year by Sens. James Lankford (R-Okla.), Kyrsten Sinema (R-Ariz.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.). The bill has been touted by Democrats as a “bipartisan” border bill, but Sens. Lankford and Sinema voted against it in a recent procedural vote.

Democrats, including Harris, have argued that President Trump singlehandedly killed the bill, but Republican senators told Fox News Digital that the bill was already unworkable for them, regardless of the former president’s opinion, with some even suggesting the measure would have made the border crisis worse.
Though Harris claims to support border security, under the Biden-Harris administration, 99 suspects on terrorism watch lists have been released into the U.S. after being apprehended by Border Patrol at the southern border between fiscal years 2021 and 2023.
Another 34 suspects on the terrorism watch list are in federal custody but have not been extradited from the U.S., according to Department of Homeland Security data provided to the House Judiciary Committee.
