Terrifying doorbell video shows the moment a Florida couple was ambushed, shot and robbed just outside their home after hitting the jackpot on a casino slot machine.
Kim Chambliss and her boyfriend, Val DelaCruz, were targeted by two masked assailants on August 2 at Tampa’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino shortly after cashing in their $3,300 winnings. Fox 13 reported..
Police said the two suspects, later identified as Marcus Jenkins, 34, and Tristin Wright, 36, watched the couple gambling and playing slots for about two hours before following them to their home just before 5 a.m.
The suspects allegedly demanded the unsuspecting couple pay them their winnings before opening fire in the driveway of their home.
Chilling Ring Doorbell video shows Chambliss, shot in the back of the leg, screaming and desperately trying to get through to the front door as gunfire rings out.
Her boyfriend, shot in both legs and lying in the hallway, could be seen pleading with the two gunmen towering over him.
“I ran and fell to the door and another guy came out and shot me a third time in my left leg,” Dela Cruz said, recounting the horror.
Following the ambush, the suspects fled the scene with the couple’s cash, watches and handbags, police said.
Meanwhile, Chambliss and DelaCruz were both treated at a nearby hospital.
“I lost a lot of blood,” Delacruz said.
Investigators reviewed security camera footage from the casino and the suspects were tracked down and arrested.
“We’re just regular people having a good time, loving each other and enjoying each other’s company,” Chambliss said.
“And we didn’t realize that people were constantly watching what we were doing. It’s scary. It’s scary.”
Jenkins was charged with numerous offences including attempted murder, robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault.
The alleged accomplice was charged with being principal to aggravated assault, principal to attempted murder and robbery with a firearm.
