‘Let Minneapolis burn’: Retired police lieutenant rips Gov Walz for surrendering city to rioters

Minneapolis – A former Minnesota police lieutenant has disputed the notion that Gov. Tim Walz is a “moderate,” telling Fox News Digital that Minneapolis was “intentionally” burned down during the 2020 riots because the governor “really hates police.”

“He’s not a moderate, he never has been a moderate. He’s taken anti-police positions in Minnesota, he’s raised taxes. He’s far from a moderate,” former Minnesota State Police Lt. John Nagel told Fox News Digital.

“He’s anti-police and he’s cutting the police budget. You have a family of a police officer who is killed in the line of duty and the family says they don’t want the governor to attend the funeral. That should say a lot about how law enforcement generally feels about Walz.”

The widow of Pope County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Owen, who was killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence call last year, told Waltz that she wasn’t invited to her husband’s funeral because “he didn’t support law enforcement.” Alpha News reports.

Retired Minnesota State Police Lt. John Nagel slammed Gov. Tim Walz’s relationship with the police department.

Nagel told Fox News Digital that the main reason Minnesota law enforcement is frustrated with Walz is because he was slow to respond when asked to deploy the National Guard as the city burned during the George Floyd riots in 2020. Walz said: Strong criticism Since becoming the Democratic Party’s vice presidential nominee.

Nagel, who is running as a Republican for Minnesota House of Representatives District 46A, explained that he believes the slow response is partly down to political calculations.

“We hear this story over and over again: He burned Minneapolis,” Nagel said. “I think he burned Minneapolis on purpose.”

“I think this was all part of a bigger plan because he really hates the police.” [Minnesota Attorney General] Keith Ellison has never liked the police. They are involved with people who are defunding the police.”

Waltz is Publicly supported When Minnesota City Council members pushed to disband police departments in 2020, Republicans proposed abolishing them as an “alternative to police,” but they were widely criticized by Republicans for not doing enough to support law enforcement during the riots.

“Tim Waltz did nothing and let Minneapolis burn for three nights in a row. “And he called for a riot,” Republican Rep. Pete Stauber, who represents Duluth, Minnesota, and the surrounding area, previously told Fox News Digital. Described their actions It was — and I’m quoting — ‘righteous anger.’ Hundreds of millions of dollars of damage was caused to family-owned businesses and buildings in Minneapolis.”

Stauber told Fox News Digital that the “vast majority” of law enforcement in Minnesota are “frustrated” with Walz’s “lack of support.”

Nagel, a 30-year military veteran, told Fox News Digital that Democratic policies are “hurting Minnesota” and causing people to leave “in droves,” and argued that Walz has played a key role in “the breakdown of law and order in Minnesota.”

Fox News Digital asked Nagel what he thinks voters who aren’t familiar with Walz need to know about him from his perspective as a veteran police officer.

“I think the public needs to understand that he’s not sincere. I think the public needs to understand that he’s power-hungry. I think the public needs to understand that he’s not doing it for the people,” Nagel said.

“He’s doing it in his own interest. Whatever the Democrats want, he’ll go along with it. Look at Minnesota. He ruined Minnesota with the three Democrats. Can you imagine what he could do with your federal tax money? Can he and his president actually deal with a national crisis when they couldn’t deal with a crisis in Minneapolis when North Korea decided to knock on the door?”

Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris-Waltz campaign for comment but did not receive a response.
