According to the Department of Defense, cooperation between Russia and Iran is said to be deepening.
At a press conference on Thursday, Assistant Defence Secretary Sabrina Singh answered reporters’ questions on the recent meetings between the leaders of the two countries.
The Pentagon said this week that an Iranian attack was “certainly possible” and “we need to take this seriously.”
“So I can’t speculate on that visit, but I think the cooperation and ties between Russia and Iran are deepening as Russia continues its illegal war in Ukraine,” Singh said.
“So, you know, we’ve seen that partnership deepen.”

“We have seen that Russia continues to procure arms from Iran. We can only speculate as to what this visit means, but we know that such visits of leaders have been taking place in the last two years,” Singh added.
U.S. military expands presence in Middle East, redeploys troops as regional tensions ease
Russia recently pledged missile support to Iran following its Defense Minister’s visit to the Middle East country.
“Iran has choices to make in terms of how this impacts the Middle East,” Singh said. “In terms of the defense of Israel, I think our message has been very clear. Just as we did on April 13, we will stand in defense of Israel.”
