Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s dog was given a mock interview by Vogue magazine on Wednesday, highlighting Vice President Kamala Harris’ refusal to be interviewed three and a half weeks after she became the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Vogue is Long puff pieces About Waltz’s dog, Scout, who serves as Minnesota’s “First Dog.”
Scout also made headlines in October 2023, when Waltz’s wife reported the dog to the governor after he’d accidentally locked himself in a bedroom. “This damn dog,” Waltz said of the incident in a social media post sharing a message from his wife. He had to use a ladder to get into the bedroom from outside the window.
After Vogue interviewed the Waltzes about their dog, they “interviewed” Scout herself. When asked what her favorite food was, Scout replied, “Anything with peanut butter on it.” When asked what her strangest habit was, Scout reportedly said, “Stealing and eating Tim’s glasses.”
Vogue magazine wrote a response on behalf of Tim Waltz’s dog.
Fox News host Martha MacCallum responded to Vogue magazine’s “The Five” feature on Friday, saying, “Tim Waltz’s dog now gives more interviews than Kamala Harris.”
Former Clinton aide Paul Begala defends Harris’ media shunning: ‘Who cares?’
“That reminds me of the judge. [Jeanine Pirro]”All of these questions would be cute and interesting if we weren’t dealing with serious questions that we don’t yet have answers to, like asking Joe Biden, ‘What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?'” she added.
Co-host Judge Jeanine Pirro countered that Harris, like President Biden, is currently protected by her team from making gaffes during unscripted appearances.
“Obviously her team believes there’s too much risk and too much downside to sending her out there to answer questions, so they’re probably thinking the less people see of Kamala, the more they’ll like her,” Pirro suggested.
“But in the end, we only have 81 days left. Next week [the Democratic National Convention] It’s all scripted. Then she sits down and is interviewed, and then there’s a panel. My concern is that she doesn’t have the confidence, nor does her team, to answer the questions.”

“Tim Waltz’s dog has now given more interviews than Kamala Harris,” Fox News host Martha MacCallum noted on “The Five” on Friday.
How long will Kamala Harris’ polling honeymoon against Donald Trump last?
“This woman is the vice president of the United States. What is she afraid of?” Pirro asked. “What is her team afraid of? This is like Joe Biden’s number two. I mean, not only is she Biden’s first mate, they’re wrapping her in bubble wrap! They might not be locking her in the basement, but it’s the same thing.”
She went on to point to a video released by the campaign in which Harris and Waltz talk about things like tacos and chili, saying, “Instead of talking to the American people about the things we care about, they’re interviewing each other. He’s talking about his favorite spices. And we’re working to make sure the American people can buy those spices!”
Pirro argued that while appearing this way rather than an actual interview may be absurd, it ultimately “speaks to where we are as a country.”

“I think a lot of young people today aren’t interested in long-form interviews,” Pirro argued. “They pull out their phone, they just scroll, they look for memes, they look on Instagram, whatever, and that’s how they get their news. They’re just not going to sit down for a long-form interview.”
McCallum agreed. “Yes, some of her supporters would argue, ‘It’s not a big deal. You don’t have to talk to anybody. You don’t have to answer any questions.'”
