Wanted South Carolina man bites cop attempting to detain him

A man wanted in South Carolina pulled a gun before biting an officer during an arrest, police said.

Suspect Marty Benjamin Miller, who has 16 outstanding arrest warrants, was identified by officers as he was driving in the Nicoltown area of ​​Greenville, South Carolina, on Friday night, Greenville Police said. Fox Carolina.

Officers approached Miller at a home on McCullough Street and attempted to arrest him.

Miller refused to comply with officers’ commands and attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle.

Another officer rushed to assist, and two officers attempted to block Miller from leaving as he continued to resist arrest.

Police said Miller resisted and pulled out a gun, but officers were able to disarm him.

Police say the suspect managed to seriously injure one of the officers.

Police then dispatched a police dog, which police say bit Miller.

Miller was taken into custody and treated at a hospital, with bail set at $20,000.

The officer involved in the incident was also taken to hospital.

Miller was wanted on suspicion of shoplifting, failing to stop for police and texting while driving, and is also expected to face additional charges in connection with Friday’s incident, including resisting arrest by assault, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and obstructing a police officer.
