Human remains found on property of man whose wife disappeared

Investigators searching for a Michigan woman who was missing for more than three years and is believed to be dead have discovered human remains while searching the property of the woman’s husband.

According to Michigan State Police (MSP), Dee Warner’s family reported her missing on April 25, 2021.

State police announced Sunday that detectives from the Special Investigations Unit found the human remains when they executed a search warrant on Lenawee County property owned by Dee Warner’s husband, Dale Warner.

“The body is currently being recovered and extensive work and testing will be required before a positive identification can be made,” MSP said in a statement.

MSPs said they had contacted Dee Warner’s family to inform them of the latest investigation findings.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” MSP said.

Dale John Warner, 56, was indicted in November on charges of murder and tampering with evidence in her disappearance. He has pleaded not guilty.

Family members told WTVG-TV and WTOL-TV that the body was discovered Friday in an empty, sealed tank meant to hold anhydrous ammonia, which is used to fertilize crops.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Dee Warner was 52 when she was last seen on a road in Franklin Township, about 70 miles southwest of Detroit, on the morning of April 25, 2021. She has not been in contact with family or friends since.
