Kamala Harris Met Secretly With Radical, Antisemitic Dearborn, Michigan, Mayor

Vice President Kamala Harris met secretly last week with the radical, anti-Semitic mayor of Dearborn, Michigan, in an effort to win over Muslim and Arab American voters.

The meeting was reported by the Associated Press and buried in a story published Saturday about a group of so-called “neutral” voters, particularly in Michigan, who are trying to push Democrats into an openly anti-Israel position.

Associated Press Reported (emphasis added):

The head of the Democratic Party Spent a few weeks In response to criticism in key battleground states such as Michigan, which has a large Arab-American population, meetings were held with “independent” voters and their allies, including a previously unreported meeting between Vice President Kamala Harris and the mayor of Dearborn, Michigan.

Campaign in progress Trip to Michigan Last week, Ms. Harris met with Abdullah Hammoud, 34, the mayor of Dearborn, a Detroit suburb that has the largest Arab-American population in the U.S. The meeting was disclosed by an anonymous person who was not authorized to discuss it publicly.

A person familiar with the meeting declined to provide specific details but said the focus was on possible policy on the Israel-Hamas conflict if Harris is elected. Hammoud declined to comment.

Harris has indeed sounded open to the possibility of an arms embargo, telling anti-Israel activists that she would consider discussing the issue, but her campaign later issued a statement backing away from that promise.
But what’s making the news is the secret meeting between Kamala Harris and Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud.

On October 7, Hammoud posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter) in which he made comments that seemed to justify Hamas’ massacre of Israelis (although he claimed to be opposed to violence against innocent civilians).

He also delivered a violently anti-Semitic speech at a radical anti-Israel rally last November, his remarks reported by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) (emphasis removed).

On November 29, 2023, New Generation for Palestine, founded by Michigan comedian Amer Zaar, held a rally in Dearborn, Michigan, to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which was livestreamed on the group’s Facebook page. Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud spoke at the event and said Dearborn is a “city of resistance.” He said the question is not whether his community will vote for Biden or Trump in the 2024 presidential election, but whether Biden will listen to them or to voters who line his pockets with money.

“This is a city of protest, a city of resilience, a city of resistance,” Hammoud said, adding:

If American democracy depends on the reelection of the current president, why partner with terrorists? [sic] Is Netanyahu worth sacrificing American democracy for? That’s the question that needs to be asked, rather than placing the weight on our shoulders of who we vote for. The question is what policies you will adopt and which voters you will listen to: those who will stuff your pockets with money or those who will speak to the wounds we carry?

The word “resistance” is used by Iranian-backed terrorist organizations such as Hamas to refer to themselves (as part of the “Axis of Resistance”).[ing]The claim that “money is in politicians’ pockets” evokes classic anti-Semitic stereotypes and the false claim that Jews are buying congressional support for Israel.

Dearborn is known as a hotbed of extremism. The Wall Street Journal Editorial It is called Palestine is the “Jihad capital of America.” In October, just days after Hamas terror attacks on Israel, local Muslim community leaders held a pro-Hamas “Free Palestine” rally, at which the only speaker who uttered the word “peace” was booed off the stage.

Harris hired anti-Israel “liaisons” with the Jewish community and with the Muslim and Arab communities who have a history of radical anti-Israel activism, including denying that radical anti-Israel protests on college campuses are anti-Semitic.

Additionally, as former President Donald Trump pointed out on Saturday, Harris rejected the nomination of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who is Jewish, as her running mate, reportedly partly because of opposition from anti-Israel wing members of the party and partly because of the governor’s religious beliefs.
