Former President Trump said he “knew nothing” about pop star Taylor Swift’s image endorsing his campaign being posted on his website, Truth Social.
Fox Business Network correspondent Grady Trimble asked Trump on Wednesday whether he was worried that Swift could sue him after the image was posted online on Tuesday.
“I don’t know anything about them other than somebody generated them. I didn’t generate them,” Trump replied.
The former president said someone said, “Look at this,” and that the photos were “all fabricated by other people.”
“AI is always going to be very dangerous in that sense,” he said.
One photo posted online shows Swift dressed as Uncle Sam and saying: “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.”
The other image, originally posted on social platform X and labelled as satire, shows women wearing “Swifties For Trump” T-shirts that read: “After ISIS disrupts Taylor Swift concert, Swifties turn to Trump.”
Earlier this month, a planned Swift concert in Vienna was canceled after authorities discovered a plot to attack event-goers, with Austrian authorities saying the suspects were inspired by Islamic State and al-Qaida.
The photo was released as fans speculated that Swift might be endorsing Vice President Harris, President Trump’s Democratic opponent. Swift has voiced her support for President Biden’s 2020 campaign.
It’s unclear how much enthusiasm Swift’s endorsement will generate, but the singer was able to get 35,000 new voters registered in 2020 after posting online about Vote.org.
Trump also posted an artificial intelligence-generated image of Harris speaking at a pro-communist event and calling her “Comrade Kamala.”
The former president said Wednesday that AI-generated content of him is also being shared online.
“The same thing is happening to me. They’re having me give speeches, and I’m talking perfectly, perfectly about AI, and I’m promoting other products and stuff,” he said. “It’s a bit of a dangerous place out there.”
