Chicago — Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz’s son, Gus, was in tears during his father’s Democratic National Convention speech on Wednesday night, as the two shared an emotional moment that garnered attention.
“Hope, Gus, Gwen, you all mean my world,” Waltz told his family in a speech after discussing the fertility treatments his wife underwent to have children. Cameras showed Waltz’s family getting emotional, with his son Gus pointing at his father in tears.
Gus then stood up and clapped, continuing to cry.
“That’s my dad,” Gus Waltz apparently said.

Gus, 17, is Waltz’s younger son and is currently a senior at St. Paul Central High School in Minnesota.
