General Motors is laying off employees in its software and services division.
The layoffs will affect 600 workers in Warren, Michigan, where GM has its global technical center. GM did not disclose the total number of employees affected by the cuts.

CNBC reported on Monday The job cuts will affect more than 1,000 employees in total across the automaker’s software and services divisions. The cuts will be made globally.
GM said the company “must simplify for speed and excellence, make bold choices and prioritize investments that will have the greatest impact.”[s] The future of GM.”

The software and services division has been led by Baris Chetinok and Dave Richardson since June, and GM said at the time that their promotions came just two months after Mike Abbott stepped down for health reasons.

“They bring energy and vision, combined with their extensive technical and management experience, that will continue to strengthen our software engineering and product teams,” CEO Mary Barra said of the pair in June. “These elevated roles will ensure continuity, speed and quality as software becomes even more central to the vehicle.”
The 2025 Corvette ZR1 will have 1,000 horsepower and will likely be expensive.
GM reported that it will have a total of 76,000 full-time and 87,000 hourly workers employed at the end of 2023.
