Former President Donald Trump promised at a rally in Glendale, Arizona on Friday night that he would establish a commission into assassination attempts on the president if elected president in November.
Trump said the committee was a tribute to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who took the stage as the Republican presidential candidate’s special guest at the Turning Point Action rally at Desert Diamond Arena.
“After the attempted assassination of me in Pennsylvania last month, Bobby called me, and he wished me the best, which was unbelievable. He knows firsthand the risks that come with being a leader who stands up to a corrupt political system,” Trump said. “If you stand up, you bring problems on yourself, but you have to do the right thing. You have to do the right thing for your country. We’re both here to do the right thing for our country.”

Kennedy ultimately announced he was suspending his presidential campaign, but that wasn’t the end of it, instead encouraging residents of Democratic-leaning states to vote for him and expressing support for former President Donald Trump in battleground states.
