Hollywood celebrities are knocking on the door hoping to help Kamala Harris win the presidential election in November, but one star is warning that celebrity endorsements could backfire, especially with rural voters who may not want to be lectured by a coastal billionaire elite.

“As a rural North Carolina guy, I hope the DNC will distance itself a little from celebrities,” he said.
“It works to a certain extent, but you have to have the support of rural America,” he continued, before adding, “Hollywood thinks it’s so important, and that’s the problem. Actors are people, they’re citizens, but I’m more on the side of rural America than Hollywood. That’s who I am.”
This week’s Democratic National Convention featured appearances by Pink, Kerry Washington, Mindy Kaling and the band formerly known as the Dixie Chicks.

But the absence of Beyoncé and Taylor Swift overshadowed everyone else: Both were conspicuously absent, even though the Harris campaign disingenuously tried to suggest that Beyoncé would be performing on Thursday to boost TV ratings.
Kamala Harris relies heavily on celebrities for publicity as well as fundraising.
Hollywood continues to serve as a go-to ATM for Harris, who held multiple fundraisers in Los Angeles as part of her campaign before Joe Biden’s forceful and unceremonious withdrawal from the race.
It’s unclear how much of the money raised by the Biden-Harris campaign will go to the Harris-Waltz campaign, but it’s expected that most, if not all, of it will go to the campaign.
